Easy Breezy Summer Look – OOTD

Cardigan (similar) : Forever 21   |  Shorts : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Charlotte Russe  |

|  Tank Top : H&M  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Happy hump day everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and hope your week is flying by as fast as mine is! I put this outfit together for a little get together this past weekend and just had to share it with you all. I love this cardigan SO much. I try and get as much wear out of it as I possibly can (with the bold pattern, it gets quite difficult). It’s such a light piece that I don’t mind wearing it in the hotter months but it’s a nice change of pace from just the everyday tanks and tees. I paired it with this simple black tank and ripped denim shorts. The shorts certainly help the cardigan seem more summer appropriate and make the look more casual. You could definitely mix your shoe selection up with this outfit. I opted for these heeled booties to dress it up a bit; but, this outfit will look just as good with a decorative sandal as well. This was absolutely perfect for a fun night out with friends!

Leave me a comment below telling me how you change up your traditional summer outfits!

Who Says Pants Aren’t Made For Summer?

Top (similar) : Forever 21   |  Bottoms : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Kohls  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

I’ve been so excited to share this outfit post with you guys. I’m absolutely obsessed with these pants! I saw them on the Charlotte Russe website and ordered them immediately. I’m so glad that I did because they work with so many occasions and tops. I’ll definitely getting good use of these this summer! On this day, my husband and I were still in beautiful Jamaica. I thought this outfit would be perfect for a romantic dinner on the beach. It was absolutely the perfect outfit to transition into the night. The extra fabric makes it perfect to drape over your legs if you get cold but aren’t stuffy. I highly recommending checking these out! I’m hoping to see this style more and more in stores so I can get my hands on some more!

Leave me a comment below and tell me if you’re loving the split leg pants as much as I am!

What To Wear To A Wedding

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Dress attire : semi-formal, black tie, black tie optional….what? Sure, these terms are thrown around all the time; but, what should you actually wear to these events? It’s hard enough to depict the difference between many of the dress codes, it’s especially hard to branch out and put your best fashion foot forward while maintaining these strict codes. Thankfully, The Black Tux has put together some extremely helpful tips and tricks to help define all the dress codes you’ll come across. These dress codes extend much further than solely weddings. All these tips you’ll find in the charts below can be used for dates, work parties, or any other event in your life.

Men, once you’ve decided what you want to wear to your big event, don’t fret if you don’t have the necessary pieces in your wardrobe. Maybe you don’t attend many black tie events or don’t have the closet space to accommodate more clothing. The Black Tux offers rentals! Don’t those suits look spiffy?! It’s a great option if you want to look sharp on a budget. I recommend checking their suits out.

Be sure to save these images below for next time a big event rolls around. That way you can be sure that you’re dressed appropriately and also look amazing! If your man is in need of something sharp to wear, check out The Black Tux for some seriously incredible suits.

Leave me a comment below and tell me your favorite color of suit you like to see your man in! 🙂

Beach-side Drinks

Top (similar) : Forever 21   |  Shorts : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Poshmark  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Really wish I could be spending this Memorial Day weekend enjoying drinks out over the open ocean but these memories will have to suffice! I could think of no better outfit for exploring the resort than an off the shoulder cropped top and some denim shorts. Both pieces allow you to wear your swimsuit inconspicuously underneath without taking away from the outfit. I love this top and it has been in my wardrobe arsenal for years. It was originally from Victoria’s Secret and it has held up through the years beautifully. I’ll link a similar one in this post.

Leave me a comment below letting me know if you have a favorite outfit to hide your swimsuit!

Stripes & Sangria

Top : Charlotte Russe   |  Jeans : Target  |  Shoes  : Poshmark  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Writing this post is hitting me right in the feels. I’m missing that gorgeous Jamaican weather and the beautiful breeze! My skin is definitely missing the sun as well. I feel like we have been under one big giant cloud here in the Midwest for the past two weeks…ugh. But, on a higher note, this was one of my favorite outfits of the trip and I’m very excited to show it to you today!

This top was my first new purchase for the trip and I fell in absolute love with it as soon as I saw it. It just screams the need to be on a boat in the tropics to me. I paired it with simple white shorts and these adorable Michael Kors sandals. (I won’t even try and be boujee with that, they came from TJ Maxx. No shame!) It was the perfect outfit to start off our vacation and so comfortable too. It was nice to have something flowy after a long day of cramped flights the day before. Now that we are back in the states, I’ll definitely be breaking out this little number more often!

The Interview Outfit That Won’t Fail You

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

You could have the greatest resume in the world and give the best answers during your interview but, you could be passed up for your appearance. As absolutely silly as that sounds, it is a very real thing that happens every day. Interviews are stressful enough, you shouldn’t have to worry about what you’re going to wear!

I always like to stick to the more dressy corporate attire for a job interview. Of course, you should gauge your attire by what the employees are wearing. Dressing more formal doesn’t hurt, it may even help your chances. Always stick to neutral colors and stray away from vivid colors and daring patterns. The point of the interview outfit is NOT to show your bold personality through fashion, it’s to be neutral and look mold-able into the kind of employee that company is after. The way you can let your personality peek through is by small details. Put on some of your favorite earrings, dress it up with a girly heel, wear a neutral floral pattern. I love the pairing of the classic business formal with a hint of feminine. If you’re staring at your closet wondering where to start, stick to these rules of thumb :

  • Stick to business formal attire
  • Pair your neutral pieces together
  • Add a feminine touch with accessories
  • Let your personality peek through in details

Leave a note below and tell me what your go-to interview outfit is!

Working Girl Outfits x Mallory Mileham

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

I’m so happy to announce my first collab ever on my blog today! I’ve teamed up with Mallory Mileham to show you a few working girl outfits that are perfect to transition us into the warmer seasons. I’m showing you three looks here today and Mallory will show you her three outfits over on her YouTube channel. Be sure to click here and watch her video afterwards. That girl has some serious style! While you’re on her channel, make sure to check out some of her other fashion, fitness, and lifestyle videos as well!

Before we get into the outfits, I just wanted to announce that today will kick off a week-long series I’m going to be doing all centered around the working girl! With graduation season upon us, I thought it would be the perfect time to offer some tips and tricks to landing your dream job and everything along the way. All you working girls be sure to subscribe to be updated with the next installment!

|  Skirt  : New York & Company  |  Tank Top  : Nordstrom Rack  |

| Heels  : Qupid  |

I wanted to start off with your typical corporate outfit except with a giant pop of color. When working in a corporate environment, I found myself struggling to incorporate my own personality to my fashion. Fashion is a large part of my life and personal expression so I like to add twists on the usual formal corporate attire!

|  Joggers  : Walmart  |  Tank Top  : Forever 21  |  Blazer  : Charlotte Russe  |

|  Heels  : Forever 21  |  Necklace  : Old Navy  |  Purse  : Target  |

| Sunglasses  : Ray-Ban  |

I love this outfit because it can really be used in a corporate environment to break up the monotony of the basic black trouser. One of the troubles I found when working in a corporate setting, was the boring wardrobe that goes along with the job. I really had to stretch my imagination as to other outfits that could work within the corporate dress code. I love these pants for their fun pattern and shape. Definitely one of my more favorite pieces in my wardrobe!

|  Blouse  : Forever 21  |  Jeans  : Charlotte Russe  |  Heels  : Macy’s  |

|  Necklace  : Target  |

This is a great options for you girls who don’t quite work in a corporate attire. This outfit can be super casual or dressed up a bit with a nice pair of heels and formal jacket, which is what I did here. I love the simplicity of this look. It really doesn’t take any effort to put together and yet looks like you really put the time into it.

Leave me a comment below and tell me which outfit was your favorite. Also, be sure to jump on over to Mallory’s channel and tell her which of her outfits you love best!

Travel Wear Is The Best Wear

|  Cardigan  : Charlotte Russe  |  Tank Top  : Old Navy  |  Jeans  : Charlotte Russe  |

|  Shoes (similar)  : Kohl’s  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Yes, traveling is the worst. However, travel clothes are some of the comfiest pieces in your wardrobe. Luckily for you, I’m here to help you pair some of the comfiest pieces together while still looking put together.

This cardigan is here to save the day. This thing is seriously the comfiest and most flattering piece. I need this in every color!

I know that jeans don’t really sound like the comfiest travel wear but these jeans are made of a jegging material. That makes them extremely comfortable and a more dressed up look than the usual leggings. I don’t know about you; but, for me, I’m all for the comfiest travel clothes but hate feeling like a bum whenever I show up to my destination. I think these jeans really help to dress up comfy looks.

If you’re driving instead of flying, I highly recommend a pair of comfy heels. The beauty of road trips is that you can slip your shoes off easy enough. If you are flying, I definitely would stay away from heels (unless you’re a well trained professional).

Let me know what your favorite travel wear is down below in the comments!

Warm Weather On The Horizon

| Top (similar) : Charlotte Russe  |  Shorts : Charlotte Russe  |

|  Shoes  : Charlotte Russe  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Are you guys sick of fashion posts yet? I hope not! These are some of my favorite posts to write. With summer right around the corner, I’ve started to break out all my cute summer pieces. These shorts were in fact a new purchase that I have in mind for my honeymoon but wanted to be sure to test them out before we left. They are SUPER comfortable and I’m loving them. Another thing I’m loving, off the shoulder pieces. I’ve noticed that I’ve slowly been transitioning my whole wardrobe to off the shoulder haha! I may need to slow it down a bit but a cute off the shoulder piece is hard to resist!

Leave me a comment below and tell me what your favorite off the shoulder piece is in your wardrobe!
