August Beauty Empties

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

It’s time to purge my hidden beauty empties drawer and show you all a little sneak peek behind a few things I’ve ran through recently. I feel like last month I ran through quite a few odds and ends in my beauty collection; but, most of my empties this month are hair products. Without further ado, let’s jump into this empties collection

OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo + OGX Argan Oil Conditioner

I’ll save you some redundancy and time and link my full review of these products here.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Divine Dark

Yet, another favorite of mine. Check out some more thoughts of mine in my last empties post. I go through these like every other week!

Tresemme Hair Spray

This has been my tried and true hairspray for YEARS. My hair literally doesn’t move but doesn’t compromise the lividity. No crust but all the hold! Now with me using this up, I’m on the search for a cruelty free hairspray solution. Let me know what you recommend!

Radha Rosehip Oil

Obsessed. I’ve already replenished my stock on this oil. I’m so glad I tried this out. The best part? I find mine on Amazon and have it delivered straight to me! This oil has totally changed my skin for the better and I can’t even imagine my life before it.

Retread

My go-to hair mask for damaged hair. It’s helped me keep my long hair while repairing my dead ends. I didn’t think I could get my hair to grow past a certain point; but, this product proved me wrong! Love it!

Glam Glow Thirsty Mud

Dry skin? You need this! I have loved each and every Glam Glow mask I’ve tried thus far. This mask is so perfect for that extra boost of hydration and it smells delicious!

Mario Badescu Vitamin A-D-E Neck Cream

There’s no better time to start taking extra care of your skin than before the damage is already done. I started using a neck cream this year and this was the first product I tried. I loved the thick consistency and it felt very nourishing. I didn’t see any change in my neck but, then again, I don’t have mature skin yet. I’m trying a different neck product now and will let you know how the two compare!

Victoria’s Secret Fresh Body Mist

This mist is from….Christmas I think? I was gifted a collection of four or five and have been switching between them all. Clearly, I really liked this one! The scent wears off easily but what body mist doesn’t?

NYX Micro Brow Pencil

My everyday eyebrow pencil that has seriously upped my brow game. I have already repurchased!

E.l.f. Liquid Eyeliner in brown

E.l.f. is seriously underrated. I love some of their products and this is one of them. Their eyeliners are great quality and easy to apply. What could be better? I like switching up my eyeliner color to brown for daytime looks because it’s less harsh. I recommend trying this one out!

Hitting Pan On Some Favorites

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

It’s that time again to run through some products of mine that I have used up. This time around is a lot of hair care products. Mostly because I’ve got some seriously thick and long hair. My hair eats up anything I put into it like it’s nothing! As you can tell, I’m a loyal Batiste customer. I’m always on the lookout for something new to try so I’d love for you to leave me some suggestions below.

This time, my empties consist of some real tried and true staples in my beauty collection. I’ve loved all of these and repurchased them all again. This is definitely the post to check out if you’re in the market for anything new.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

I haven’t tried a Batiste dry shampoo that I haven’t loved but I’m a sucker for the Divine Dark shade. It works just as well as the others and masks the typical dry shampoo “dust” with a hint of my brunette hair color. Really great!

OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo

Yeah, I’ve run through a huge bottle of this. Since I go 3-4 days between washing my hair, I like to double up when I do wash it. I find giving it a double dose of shampoo really cleans my hair well. This coconut milk shampoo feels great on my hair. Shampoo naturally strips the oils from your hair, good and bad, but this shampoo doesn’t dry my hair out at all. I’ve purchased another large bottle of this already!

Lush Retread

Cannot think of a better hair mask. I really can’t! I have yet to come across another moisturizing mask that can beat this product. I live by this! Click here to read my full review on this product!

Jergens Natural Glow

For all the pale girls out there like me who have the worst time getting a natural tan. I highly recommend this natural tanner. It’ll save your skin from the harsh sun rays but will give your skin the glowing radiance of beautifully tanned skin.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Ever since I tried this out last year, I’ve been HOOKED! I don’t go a day without using it. It really does keep my makeup in place and helps my face stay in place throughout the day! Click here to read my review of this product!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

I’ve done a full out review of this product so I won’t waste your time. Click here to read my review. Just know, you’ll be hooked after trying it!

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Midwestern winters are no joke! Needing to up your moisturizing routine is an understatement. I’ll take you through some of my intense winter essential products to help me get through the bitter cold.

Lush Retread.JPG

Lush Retread

You know I love this conditioner, I use it every time I’m about to wash my hair. I coat the lower half of my hair with this conditioner and leave it in for about 20-30 minutes. My hair sure appreciates it in these bitter cold months!

argan-oil

Argan Oil

I always use this oil after washing my hair; however, in the winter I like to use it every day on the ends of my hair. It’s a great leave in conditioner. In the winter, my hair drinks it up like it’s nothing! Highly recommend!

glamglow-thirstymud

Glam Glow ThirstyMud

This is a new purchase and I’m loving it. I use a mask about every day and I love this for an intense moisturizing mask. My skin glows the next morning after using this and the smell is to die for!

carmex

Carmex

Literally the only thing that can save my lips in the winter. EOS and Chapstick just doesn’t compare!

Vaseline.JPG

Vaseline

A great life-saver to those who need an intense concentration of moisture for their hands, elbows, or feet. I like lathering up my feet and then slipping on some fuzzy socks!

Lush Products Review

008.JPG

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I wanted to pop in and update you on how my Lush products were going since I hauled those a month or two ago. This post is going to be split down the middle, sadly, because one of the products I’m in love with and the other is…just not for me. It’s a real bummer too because both of these products were so hyped up by everyone who owns them. So, let’s jump into it!

Retread

This conditioner, for those who don’t know, I have been using as an intensive hair mask before washing my hair. I use it just about every time I wash my hair and it took no time for people to notice! It is fantastic and makes my hair so smooth and silky. It diminishes the damaging look that my hair truly has (I’m waiting until after the wedding to chop it off). I love this product and have nothing bad to say about it. I got the larger tub and have been using it for a couple months and I’ve barely made a dent. This is also coming from a girl with extremely long and thick hair. Love it!

Mask of Magnaminty

I know, I know! Occult favorite! I tried so hard to like this product. I used it once weekly, three times weekly, before showers, after showers. Nothing worked. Every time I used this product, it would break me out. And I’m not talking about a spot here or there; but, multiple of those pesky small whiteheads. Enough of them to deter me away from using the product. I’m not sure what everyone else sees in this product but my face is not on board with it. I’ve tried my hardest to make it work but I’m just going to have to give it to a friend or family member. There’s no way I can finish the rest of it!

Let me know your thoughts! Did I just get a bad batch? Is the self-preserving version not as good as the original? I’m curious about your thoughts on these products!

Lush Mini Haul

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

This weekend, after a great recommendation, I stopped in at my local Lush store FOR THE FIRST TIME. I know, I know. What took me so long? I’m not sure either. I was probably worried that I would get addicted; and it’s safe to say, that I am now officially addicted! I’ve been needing a great cruelty free hair and face mask for a while now. Plus, the fact that they use 100% recycled product for their packaging really makes me happy. I can already tell this is a brand I’m totally on board with.

I’ve seen a lot of people rave about the Mask of Magnaminty and thought I would give it a try! It smells amazing to the point where I have to tell myself that I shouldn’t eat it haha. What drew me to this mask is the fact that it’s deep cleaning and exfoliating. I do have a Clarisonic but haven’t gotten around to ordering a new brush head for it; so, I was in need of a good exfoliating mask. I reach for my Glam Glow Powermud mask about once a week, if not more. However, it doesn’t exfoliate my skin as well as my Clarisonic and definitely doesn’t work as well as the Mask of Magnaminty. I tried the Mask of Magnaminty for the first time last night and fell in love! I’m going to keep using it for the next couple weeks and update you all on my thoughts!

My hair definitely could use a good trim as I haven’t been to the salon in a couple months; but, I wanted to get a good conditioning mask to give my hair a fighting chance before taking scissors to it! I opted towards something so conditioning that it is an actual conditioner, Lush’s Retread conditioner to be exact! What I like to do is wet the ends of my hair with lukewarm water to open up my hairs cuticles and make sure the mask is being used to its full potential. Then I’ll take a decent amount and apply it to my ends (never going past the middle of my hair). I like to leave the product in for about 15 minutes before washing it out in the shower. I tried this mask out for the first time last night as well and was EXTREMLY impressed! I didn’t have much hope for my dead ends but this really put life back into my hair in just one use. I will be continuing to try this out as well for the next couple of weeks and let you know my thoughts!
